2007 COLORS REGATTA
June 9-10, 2007

NOTICE OF RACE 

 

1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY, DATE AND TIME
Columbia Yacht Club is  the organizing authority.  Columbia will be the host club and will provide race management.  

2. RULES 

2.1 The regatta will be governed by the “rules” as defined in the Racing Rules of Racing (RRS), the Prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association (USSA), the rules and regulations of the  T-10  local class rules, Farr 40, j-105, Beneteau 36.7-40.7, Sydney 38, Flying Tiger 10 m    AND   ANY GROUP OF THREE (3) OR MORE  BOATS THAT WISH TO RACE , the ORC Special Regulations for Category 4, this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions. 

3. ADVERTISING
The regatta is classified as a Category A event in accordance with RRS Appendix 1.

4. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

4.1 This regatta is open to ANY AND ALL OFF SHORE CLASSES and  ANY  and ALL   PHRF   or IRC CLASSES THAT WISH TO FORM.   This means classes that either exist ( regular area 3, NOOD classes or  New Classes)   who submit entry forms.

4.2 Eligible yachts may be entered by submitting a complete entry package which consists of:
1.  A completed and signed entry form (included with this Notice of Race)
2.  The $125.00 entry fee payable to Columbia Yacht Club ($130 if not a USSA member)
3.  Evidence that the yacht carries $300,000 of liability insurance

4.3 The entry form with appropriate fee shall be submitted no later than June 7, 2007 to:

5. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

5.1 Sign-in: Friday, June 8, 2007 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Columbia FREE BEER
5.2 Skippers Meeting: Friday, June]8, 2007 at 7:30 PM at Columbia
5.3 Races:  The first warning signal on Saturday and Sunday will be 10:00 hrs.
5.4 Six races are scheduled – three on Saturday and three on Sunday.  One completed race will constitute a series.
5.5 The course will be windward-Leeward. 

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available at sign-in.

7. REGATTA SITE and RACING AREA

7.1 The regatta site will be the Columbia Yacht Club, Chicago, IL.
7.2 The racing area will be offshore in the vicinity of Monroe Street Harbor.  The exact location will be in the Sailing Instructions. 

8. SCORING
The Low Point Scoring System in RRS Appendix A will be used except that no scores will be excluded (NO THROW OUTS).  This modifies RRS A2.

9. PENALTIES
ONE (1) turn penalty will apply to boats that may have broken a rule of Part 2 while racing except that, if either boat was within the Two-Length Zone when the incident occurred, a TWO(2) turn penalty will apply. This modifies RRS 44 and may modify some one design class rules. 

10. PRIZES
Prizes for 1st  2nd and 3rd  will be presented by Columbia to each class of  yachts and their crew on Sunday, Columbia Yacht Club at approximately 5:00 PM.  

11. Entertainment
Columbia will host a party on Friday night.  Columbia will provide refreshments/food after the races on Saturday and Sunday.
